Composed by Ludwig (Dp) Van Beethoven. Arranged by Peet du Toit. This edition: pdf. Classical. 7 pages. Peet du Toit #1455009. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.1896563).This is an elaborate, operatic-style song, written to be performed with an orchestra. Because it is not part of an opera, it is called a concert aria. Beethoven wrote this aria for Josephine von Clary, a well-known amateur singer, although she dit not give the first performance. Josepha Duschek did so in 1796.
The libretto was written by Metastasio, a famous Italian poet who worked in Vienna. The title means: "Ah! treacherous person".
The melody is allocated to the first Violin in this arrangement. Enjoy!
