Second Time Around
This course is perfect for the student who took some lessons as a child, but who has forgotten everything. The course moves very rapidly, and only very bright adults would be able to make a total start with this series. The course starts with an optional off staff section. Letter names are used; harmonic interval accompaniments are used in this section as well. Reading is then taught using guideposts (landmarks) and intervals. Fixed positions are avoided altogether. The entire grand staff is taught in level 1. Later levels use a multikey approach, and transposition is emphasized. Improvising is also emphasized. This is an outstanding method for students who can move quickly. But it will overwhelm some students.
