Founded in 2015, the Zahir Quartet aims to evolve the saxophone quartet genre. Whether interpreting original repertoire or transcribing chamber music for their formation, the four saxophonists of the quartet demonstrate their curiosity and creativity.

Composed in 1951, Adoration is one of the best-known works by the composer Florence Price (1887?1953), the first African-American woman to have her music performed by a major symphony orchestra.
Originally written for organ, this short, contemplative piece reflects the profound lyrical and spiritual sensibility that runs through her entire body of work, situated at the crossroads between sacred and secular music. The arrangement for saxophone quartet highlights the harmonic richness and warm timbre of the instrumentation, shedding new light on this meditation full of gentleness and contemplation. The parts respond to one another in a delicate balance between inner song and collective breathing, capturing all the sincerity and grace of Price?s original composition.
