Published by Möseler Verlag - Digital (S9.Q556100).Wie bei den "6 Orgelstücken, op. 65", handelt es sich bei den "8 Charakterstücken, op. 54" um eine nachträgliche Zusammenstellung schon bestehender Einzelstücke des genialen Dortmunder Reinoldi-Kantors. Die Stücke entstanden ohne besonderen Zusammenhang in den Jahren 1910 bis etwa 1919. Sie sind in einem von den Zeitgenossen Reger und Karg-Elert völlig unabhängigen hochromantischen Stil geschrieben und zeigen den Komponisten von einer bald gefühlvollen, bald nachdenklichen, bald spritzigen, gelegentlich auch pathetischen Seite. Man darf sicher behaupten, dass sie zu den geistvollsten Charakterstücken nach Rheinberger gehören.
