Friedrich von Flotow (1812 -1883) was a German composer who is chiefly remembered for his romantic comic opera 'Martha', which was popular in the 19th century and the early part of the 20th. The aria 'Ach so fromm, ach so traut' is sung by Lionel and is also known as as 'Lyonel's romanza. This aria has become very famous on its own and sung by many tenors all over the world.
