Composed to mark the 20th Anniversary of the Ashford Concert Band in 2023, Ashford Celebration is an uplifting and accessible work for concert band. As a special tribute to the band, the composition is built around musical material derived from its name. Both main themes begin with the notes A–C–B (concert pitch), forming a recognisable motif that runs throughout the piece. The harmonic foundation of the reflective middle section is also constructed using letters from the band’s name, this time shaping distinctive and evocative chord progressions.
