'Abraham to kill him' sets a poem by Emily Dickinson. An evocative and atmpsheric setting of this unusual text. The text appealed as it is a little different from many traditional Christmas Carol Texts. I wanted to compose an atmospheric carol that reflected the darker nature of the text. The repetition of ‘Abraham’ acts as a sort of chorus - sometimes pleading and sometimes sad. It begins the piece and also closes it, disappearing into nothing in the final bars. Duration: 4'00".
