A Thousand Years by Christina Perri Piano Solo - Digital Sheet Music

By David Hodges

These medleys of Pachelbel’s Canon in D with various popular titles are designed for wedding processionals. They work very well with any size wedding party and transition perfectly from the wedding party immediately into the bridal procession. Canon in D has always been a favorite of both the wedding participant as well as the musician. The repetitive nature of the music allows for a great deal of flexibility in length and the variation in the melody and accompaniment means it won’t get boring or stale. The second half of each medley, the popular title, is shorter to accommodate the singular procession of the main wedding celebrant. However, it is still very flexible with optional vamps, repeats and cuts as deemed necessary by the musician either in planning or even on the fly. Each of these arrangements is scored for piano solo with the following optional instruments:· C-instruments such as flute or violin· Bb-instruments such as clarinet or trumpet· Bass-clef instruments such as celloThe medleys are designed for a continuous flow of music. The Canon in D may be ended at any set of four or eight measures. However, the musicians should not resolve the piece or end it on a D-major chord. Instead, at the end of the particular phrase they are playing, they should do a slight ritardando and proceed immediately into the next piece. It will create a noticeable, sometimes striking, and beautiful transition indicating that the main act of the wedding is about to take place!
