This unusual arrangement of A Thousand Years for an Intermediate choral group has a slight taste of jazz about it. This Pop Ballad is not a difficult piece, but it has a few challenges to make it interesting.
* The verses are duets with different voicings, while everyone sings on the choruses, which are not simple re-runs of each other.
* The melody is often set off by some counter-movement, sometimes with some nice, transient, dissonant harmonies
* There are also some alternate rhythms in the harmonies, as classical choral composers often included.
This colorful arrangement is perfect for a contrast piece in your next concert. And it has a piano accompaniment that is playable by an Intermediate student pianist.
