This piece has been specially arranged to be suitable for Intermediate Level performers and for use as instructional repertoire. The arrangement is flexible in that it can be used for an Intermediate Level Quartet, an Intermediate Level Ensemble or a mixed-level ensemble that involves both Intermediate and Elementary Level performers. The Violin 3 part is the same as the Viola part. Violin players can therefore be used in addition to or instead of Viola players. The Viola / Violin 3 part is Elementary level. Less competent/confident Cello players can be included in the ensemble by using the Double Bass part. The Double Bass part is optional, but its inclusion is preferable in the case of a larger ensemble. Although each part is melodic and integral to the arrangement, the Viola (and/or Violin 3) part has the main melody for the entire piece. Careful observation of the dynamic markings will help balance the ensemble. Parts in this set: Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Violin 3 (=Viola), Cello, Double Bass (optional).
