Solo voices — flugelhorn, principal cornet, and soprano cornet — trace delicate lines above a shifting backdrop, their phrases shimmering with impressionistic light. The atmosphere swells briefly, only to dissolve into stillness before a new sound world emerges.
Gregson-Williams’ lullaby begins with the intimacy of a single flugelhorn, gradually enfolded by the band as textures broaden and momentum builds. A subtle triplet undercurrent pushes against the lullaby’s gentle melody, carrying the music toward a glowing climax, before everything is cut away in a moment of sudden silence.
Through the Wardrobe moves seamlessly between two musical worlds, inviting performers and listeners alike to lose themselves in its sense of magic, colour, and cinematic storytelling.
