This intonation of the beautiful carol ES IST EIN ROS was originally composed for the Christmas hymn "A Great and Mighty Wonder," but it can also be used for the carol "Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming." Featuring lush strings and an optional solo, this short work was originally intended to be a hymn introduction, but with an appropriate registration and a more metrical performance it may also be used as an alternate harmonization for the isorhythmic version of the carol.
