A Festival Prelude
I have A Festival Prelude scheduled to be played in April so it has not been handed out to the band. However, I have been Conductor or Conductor Emeritus of the most part since 1966 to the present and I have programed A Festival Prelude about six times since it was published. It is a great piece of music composed by the famous band composere Alfred Reed. It is a fanfare but yet it is melodious in it's character. It is not too difficult but the musicians will be confronted with sudden tempo changes which must be controled so that the piece don't break down. Everything must be seamless and the conclusion is quite grand in it's character. It is a good piece to open a program with or to re-open after an intermission. It is a really fun piece to play.
