A CRY FOR PEACE Composed by a request from Don McBurney, Director of 'A Ray of Hope.' A choir formed in 1998 from several Northern Ireland schools and appointed as UNESCO Youth Ambassador's for the Culture of Peace.
The piece lasts approximately 15 minutes and my 1st attempt at writing a four part choral work. It was performed at the Unesco Headquarters in Paris and The Grand Amphitheatre de la Sorbonne.
This was followed by a 2nd request to write a special piece 'Take my Hand' as a tribute to the Director General Frederico Mayor and the work of Unesco. Also for the Teachers & Pupils of School 7, Mozyr, Belarus, (an area which received 70% of the contamination from the Chernobyl Disaster)
I am told that a copy of the Take my Hand manuscript was framed and hangs in Unesco headquarters.
