Is a polyphonic work (SSAATTBB a capella) inspired by the homonymous poem by the British writer Christina Rossetti (1830-1894). The rhetorical content of the text intuitively suggested the selection of musical elements and resources used in the creative process, which makes it a work full of contrasts, of different atmospheres, colors, textures, sensations, and affections. The musical language used is largely set within a diatonic tonal framework. There is a free use of tonality, which translates into freedom in the functional succession and conduction of voices, as well as a constant modulation by intervallic attraction. Also, the use of modality, polytonality, and extended chords highlights the most dramatic moments of the text. This work was recorded in 2025 by Coro Volante for the volume 7 of the NEW CHORAL VOICES collection.
