This new edition conveniently and economically collects 55 songs, all in clear, new music engravings and in two keys (with original keys noted). Many of the songs have never been published in transposition before this edition. This collection features a biography of the composer and notes on the songs.

This Quilter collection is a superb addition for intermediate to medium-difficult high voice students. The clear, new music engravings are a joy to read, making rhythm and note reading much easier. A comprehensive collection of Quilter's high voice art songs. The sewn binding is a huge plus for performance, ensuring the book stays open on the piano. These Quilter songs are a treasure chest of music, both for those who knpow his songs, as I thought I did, and for those new to Quilter, an often underrated English composer of the 20th Century. The collection contains old favourites, which I have known for many years in concerts and festivals, such as June, Love's Philosophy and Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal. I have also found beautiful and charming songs previously unknown, particularly those from his Seven Elizabethan Songs Op.12. My only complaint is that the key of June is too high, even for a high soprano like myself, and found elsewhere in F major rather than G - much more comfortable.

For Roger Quilter fans, this book is a must-have. All of the popular Quilter pieces you've heard in recitals and competitions are there (Love's Philosophy, Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal, etc.), plus many I had never heard before. Wonderful book to add to your 20th century repertoire.
