Brahms at his best
This is superb practice material. The more you play it, the more you will like it. But learn it slowly and you will find it is thoughtful and well-composed music. if you chose to rush things because it looks easy, you will miss the chance to view Brahms as a great creator. The music, if played correctly with the proper attitude, is incredibly fine. And you wonder why Brahms is left out of lists of piano studies people.I get the impression that Brahms was a flat-fingered pianist who wanted to minimize all movement. I find these exercises easier to play that way.To sum it up: the short pieces will give you a better understanding of the finer points of legato and leggiero and finger control. And when you look into a mirror, you will see a better person.
