Unique excersises
The '51 ungungen' by Brahms are by far the most demanding excersises for the hand. Where Liszt's excersises aim to train individuality of each finger, Brahms trains the strong grip of the hand. For example one excersise let you play thirds in the lower voice with a single notes in the upper voice, with ONE hand. And that's just one. These excersies are perfect to develop strenght in fingers AND hand/arm which you need to play, for example, Rachmaninoff's piano concerto's, Brahms his own concerto's and sonata's, his paganini variations, and maybey also for playing the Liszt b minor sonata which requires not only rapid finger-technique but also a strong hand and arm.
