The 40 exercises were written in 1833 as part of the Violoncell-Schule op. 126. For the edition, Tobias Bonz has divided the material into two volumes: The 24 scales through two octaves in Volume 1 briefly and clearly summarize the basics of playing scales on the cello. With a varied and easy-to-play accompaniment part, short pieces of music can be created that learners of all ages will enjoy.
Volume 2 is a bit more challenging: 16 duets in neck positions give a rich insight into various aspects of cello technique in both parts: in addition to pizzicato and harmonics, syncopations and trills are also practiced.

> the 40 exercises for the first time in Urtext
> short, melodically appealing music pieces through varied accompaniment part
> original educational notes, fingerings and bowing marks
> notes by the editor on historical performance practice.
