Francisco Lopez Capillas (1608-1674) - 4 brani mariani - 4 songs for the Virgin Mary

4 scores dedicated to the Virgin Mary by Mexican Baroque composer Francisco Lopez Capillas, who was organist (and basson player) in Puebla's and Mexico City's cathedrals; in this last one he was chapelmaster for over 20 years, until his death.
Two antiphones are clearly indicated for the festivities of the Purification and of the Nativity, while "Aufer a nobis" and "Cui Luna, Sol et Omnia" are generical hymns to the Virgin, although the latter was usually to be sung during the Feast of the Assumption.
The first one is set for 5 voices (SATTB), the other three for 4 voices (SATB or SATT the last one.).
