Scored by Thomas F. Heck for solo violin with classical guitar accompaniment, this collection includes pieces from Volumes 1--3 of the Suzuki Violin School. Heck, a guitarist and Suzuki parent, intended the arrangements to serve as interesting alternative accompaniments to the Violin School repertoire. The contrapuntal interest and enriched timbral possibilities of the violin-with-guitar combination result in unusually appealing chamber music performance pieces suited for young musicians. The intermediate to advanced level classical guitar notation is supplemented by chord symbols to enable non-classically trained guitarists to accompany the violin line. Contents are: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star Theme and Variations (Suzuki) * Song of the Wind (Folk Song) * Go Tell Aunt Rhody (Folk Song) * O Come, Little Children (Folk Song) * May Song (Folk Song) * Long, Long Ago (Bayly) * Allegro (Shinichi Suzuki) * Three Minuets from Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach (Bach) * Chorus from Judas Maccabaeus (Handel) * Gavotte (Gossec) * Musette, Gavotte II or the Musette from English Suite III in G Minor for Klavier, BWV 808 (Bach) * Waltz, Op. 39, No. 15 (Brahms) * Theme from Witches' Dance (Paganini) * Minuet in G, Wo0 10, No. 2 (Beethoven) * Minuet from Quintet in E (Boccherini) * Humoresque, Op. 101, No. 7 (Dvorák) * Gavotte (Martini) * Gavotte I and II in D from Air for the G String (Bach) * Minuets, BWV Anh. 114 & BWV Anh. 115 (Bach).

Great bargain, great tunes
I play guitar and have performed for many weddings in a parlor band for over 30 years and was looking for some easy to intermediate gig ready music. This book is just fine... instant chamber music... nicely arranged and chord symbols present. The price was so good I bought 2... one for me and one for the violinist. Only problem... it is smaller print than standard guitar music... unless you are in bright light or brought your spectacles, it may be hard to read...

Tired of Play-A-Long ...
I wish there were more books like this. Guitar players are easier to find than pianists. I've been practicing more, because I am motivated to show up to each practice session ready to play. A beginner violinist can play about 1/3-1/2 of the pieces. If you have finished Suzuki Vol. 2, you could probably teach yourself most of the pieces in the book. The guitar player needs to be more advanced -- even on the easy pieces.
