He began teaching at Mannes in 1964, and has continued ever since. For sixty years he has composed extensively for early instruments and for Japanese instruments, and these experiences have noticeably influenced his compositions for more conventional media. Many of his compositions have been recorded, including 22 CDs released by Vienna Modern Masters, which include more than one hundred works, and 8 CDs released by Centaur Records.
