15 Easy Folksong Arrangements Low Voice Introduction by Joan Frey Boytim by Various Low Voice - Sheet Music

By Various

This collection is designed for those students, of any age beyond early teens, in the early stages of voice study, although the arrangements are so satisfying that more advanced singers will also enjoy them. The ranges are modest, and songs have been chosen for both genders. The new arrangements are lovely, fresh and interesting, but keep the simple vocal line in the forefront. The piano accompaniments were deliberately designed for an intermediate level player. The recordings include beautiful performances of each song by professional singers to be used as a learning tool, and a piano accompaniment track for practice. The recordings are accessed online by using the unique code in each book and can be streamed or downloaded according to your personal preference. Joan Boytim, the leading American expert on teaching the young voice, has added a preface about how to use these songs in the studio. Highlights: Barbara Allen • I Gave My Love a Cherry • Johnny Has Gone for a Soldier • Shenandoah • The Streets of Laredo • The Water Is Wide.

    Thoughtfully Arranged Accompaniments

This collection is superb for vocal coaches and collaborative pianists working with low voices. The arrangements are carefully designed to keep the simple vocal line prominent, ensuring the singer is always supported, not overshadowed. The piano texture is engaging and varied, offering an intermediate-level accompaniment that truly enhances the folksongs. Modest vocal ranges are a huge plus for developing technique.

Solid Book for Prepared Low Voice Gigs

A reliable collection of 15 classic folksongs for low voice. The arrangements are fresh and well-written, with intermediate piano parts. While not a lead sheet with chord symbols for improv, the online audio with full performances and accompaniment tracks is incredibly helpful for quick learning and preparation. Perfect for specific events or studio recording sessions where a polished low voice arrangement is needed.

    Excellent Resource for Developing Voices

This collection is truly a pedagogical gem for low voice students in their early stages. The arrangements feature modest vocal ranges, making them highly accessible. While the voice parts are 'easy,' the intermediate piano accompaniments provide a lovely challenge for a studio accompanist. The clear layout and Joan Boytim's insightful preface make it an invaluable teaching tool for rhythm and phrasing.

    So Much Fun to Sing!

I absolutely love this book! The 'easy' folksong arrangements for low voice are perfect for me as an adult learner. The ranges are very comfortable, and I can actually focus on enjoying the beautiful melodies like 'Shenandoah' and 'Barbara Allen.' The online audio is fantastic – I can listen to how it's supposed to sound and then practice with the piano-only track. Highly recommend for pure singing enjoyment!
