1. Air from Water Music by George Frederick Handel (1685-1759). From the first of the three Water Music Suites, premiered in 1717 in response to the request by King George I for a concert on the river Thames.
2. Minuet by Christian Petzold (1677-1733), formerly attributed to J.S. Bach.
3. Lascia ch’io pianga (‘Leave the thorn’) by G.F. Handel, is a soprano aria from his 1705 opera Almira.
4. The Harmonious Blacksmith, by G.F. Handel is the theme from the last movement of his Suite No.5 for harpsichord.
5. Musette by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) is a keyboard piece from his Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach.
6. Trumpet Tune by Jeremiah Clarke (1674-1707) was written for his semi-opera The Island Princess in 1699. It was formerly attributed to Henry Purcell.
7. Where’er you walk by G.F. Handel is an aria from his 1744 oratorio Semele.
8. La Réjouissance by G.F. Handel is from his Music for the Royal Fireworks (1749).
9. I attempt from Love’s sickness to fly by Henry Purcell (1659-1695) is an aria from his semi-opera The Indian Queen, premiered in 1695.
10. Rondeau by Henry Purcell is an instrumental piece from his incidental music to the play Abdelazar (1676).
11. Brandenburg Concerto No.1 by J.S. Bach - the third movement theme.
12. Entrée de Polymnie by Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683-1764) is an instrumental piece from his opera Les Boreades (c. 1763). Polymnie was the muse of sacred poetry, sacred hymn and dance.
13. Le Tambourin by J.P. Rameau is from his 1724 keyboard Suite in E minor.
14. Air on the G string by J.S. Bach is the melody of the second movement of his Orchestral Suite No.4 in D major (1727).
15. Badinerie by J.S. Bach is the theme from the fourth movement of his Orchestra Suite No.2 in B minor (1738).
