About Dan Forrest

Dan Forrest is a highly acclaimed American composer, pianist, and educator, widely recognized for his deeply moving and expertly crafted choral, orchestral, instrumental, and wind band works. His primary musical style blends traditional sacred influences with a contemporary sensibility, characterized by rich harmonies, soaring melodies, and profound emotional depth. Forrest's significant contributions to modern choral literature have firmly established his place in the repertoire of ensembles worldwide, with his compositions being celebrated for their beauty and accessibility for performers and audiences alike.

Dan Forrest began piano lessons at the age of eight and served as a church pianist starting in the sixth grade, which provided him with valuable early musical experience.
He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition from the University of Kansas and a Master of Music in Piano Performance, reflecting his diverse musical background and extensive academic training.
His most celebrated major work, "Requiem for the Living" (2013), has received over a thousand performances globally, becoming a standard in the choral-orchestral repertoire.
Forrest is actively involved in music publishing, releasing his concert choral music through his own company, The Music of Dan Forrest, and serving as Vice President of Publications and Editor at Beckenhorst Press for his church choral anthems.
