Don't Stop Believing – C5 search for UK musical talent

Channel Five is preparing itself for the launch of its new all singing, all dancing search for Britain’s best musical performance group.
Billed as the X Factor meets Glee, the show is hosted by former Spice Girl Emma Bunton and features West End stars Tamsin Outhwaite and Duncan James among its judges.
The producers have scoured the UK to find the most talented musical performers from schools, workplaces and community groups.
Five’s controller Richard Woolfe explained that the channel wants to explore the explosion in musical performance groups within the UK.
“This will be the first series to combine both singing and dancing to create an amazing entertainment spectacle which will completely capture the viewers’ imagination,”.
Show host Ms Bunton explained that the idea behind the show is to tap into the popularity of the hit US show Glee and unearth new talent.
“Like millions of others I’m currently obsessed with musical performance groups so I am beyond excited,” she said. “It’ll be an unmissable, all-singing, all-dancing spectacle.”
Meanwhile, alongside the main event, members of the public have been invited to join a specially created Don’t Stop Believing Super Group which will represent the UK on the thriving international Glee Club circuit in the USA.
The first episode is airing this Sunday (July 18th) at BST 19.00.

This is not the first time that the Glee phenomenon has been used to drum-up interest in musical performance groups in the UK. The Times Educational Supplement reported that interest in school choirs and singing groups had soared since the show was first aired on our TV screens, with many children inspired by its use of catchy and modern music.
