The Korg Kaoss Pad 3 has won itself a high profile admirer, with Bryan 
Ferry, the former Roxy Music lead vocalist, using the device to help record his new album, Olympia.
In fact, so blown away with the technology, Ferry has even given the effects and sampling gadget its own place in his personal recording studio and stated that the KP3 is likely to remain part of his recording set-up for the foreseeable future.
“I first used one on my last album Dyanlesque – a collection of Bob Dylan songs. One of the tracks we were working on was If Not For You, which had previously been covered by numerous musicians,” said Ferry.
“George Harrison’s version was particularly noteworthy. I remember at the time thinking that the track was missing something, so I suggested trying out a Kaoss Pad. We put the bass and drums through a filter setting and recorded the output of a few passes.”
“It created a really nice mood for the track. The Kaoss Pad 3 looks set to
become a permanent fixture.”
Released in October this year, Olympia features a wide range of contributors, including Brian Eno, Groove Armada, Scissor Sisters, Nile Rodgers and Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead among others.
