Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle has broken yet another record 
having sold 14 million albums in the past 14 months.
The figure means that for the second year in a row the 49-year-old is Sony Music’s highest selling artist around the world.
It is not the first time that Boyle has been entered into the record books over the past few months.
Following the release of her second album, The Gift, the Scot became the first solo artist to simultaneously hold the US and UK number one album spots twice in less than 12 months.
The only other two acts to have achieved the latter feat are The Monkees and The Beatles in 1967 and in 1969 respectively.
Sony presented Boyle with a special award to mark the 14 million album sales of I Dreamed a Dream and The Gift.
“Words can’t describe how happy I am. Seeing this award made it all soreal,” she said upon hearing the news. “I’ve loved every minute and I can’t wait to get back in to the studio again and for all the other exciting projects that 2011 will bring.”
Boyle found herself in the public spotlight in 2009 after appearing on the Britain’s Got Talent reality TV contest. She became an instant hit following her performance of I Dreamed a Dream from the musical Les Miserables.
Since then she has gone on to have massive chart success and has now been nominated for a 2011 Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album for her debut recording.
Meanwhile, according to a recent competition by charity ScotsCare, Susan Boyle has been named Scot of the year after gaining 95 per cent of the public vote in the annual contest.
