Banks Musicroom – a musical gem

Banks, the country’s oldest music store, has long been a source of inspiration and enjoyment for Yorkshire’s musicians. However, following a recent refit and rebranding, it now offers even more to delight the musically inclined.
The flagship store for the Musicroom group, Banks Musicroom (as it is now called) has three floors dedicated purely to music. The refitted piano room offers a selection of the leading brands – Yamaha, Roland and Casio – laid out to create a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere for budding pianists to try out the available models.
There is also a dedicated classical guitar room, where people can calmly and quietly peruse the selection of beautiful instruments; a hugely extended drum and electric guitar department; and an extended woodwind and brass department.
“The aim of the refit was to create a one-stop shop for musicians – all instruments, all genres, all levels” said Andrew Nixon, Store Manager. “It is important for people to feel comfortable and relaxed here, which is why we have focused on zoning areas and creating a natural flow to the store. Hopefully we have succeeded in our aim – our customers are sure to let us know!” he continued.
Other improvements include the addition of an Education Resource Centre – a new initiative to help and support teachers of music in their job of nurturing young talent.
All this is in addition to the vast selection of sheet music famously available from the store: “We really take pride in this area and feel it is the ‘jewel in the crown’ that is our fantastic new store” added Andrew.
The store staff are all musicians, able to offer advice, guidance and support regarding any aspect of music and playing. So, if you are a musician – new, experienced or lapsed – visit Banks Musicroom and enjoy the most complete musical shopping experience to be found in the UK.
