Last week at Rae Mac’s in Edinburgh, Cabaret star Tricity Vogue added a touch of glamour to our Ukulele Paint & Play event. We all had so much fun that she has agreed to come back at 12pm on Saturday the 20th of August. Last week she sang a few songs, decorated her own uke and taught a group of lucky beginners how to play some tunes. The 3 part harmony we had going on Que Sera was particularly impressive!
You will have another opportunity to join in, paint, play or just spectate. If you want your own uke to love then they start at £14.99 (£16.99 if you want to customise it and make it sparkle). Alternatively there will be instruments to try on the day to see if you get a taste for the coolest 4 stringed instrument on the Fringe!
Also on the 20th, Kazoo-loving cabaret diva Tricity Vogue is calling for all the kazoo players in Edinburgh to join her for a mass choir performance of Blue Moon on kazoos.Tricity, aka The Blue Lady, will be heading up the chorus in full blue costume, and will be joined by fellow performers from her Ukulele Cabaret and other stars from this years Fringe, along with members of Edinburgh choirs, as well as her audience members and the general public. Fringe performers joining the kazoo extravaganza include EastEnd Cabaret, Ria Lina, Jo Stephenson, and Dan Woods among others.
She invites everyone whos picked up a kazoo at one of her Edinburgh shows so far to bring it along and swell the choir. Anyone whod like to be a part of the event but hasnt got a kazoo of their own can get hold of a Tricity Vogue monogrammed kazoo at any of Tricitys shows, or from Rae MacIntosh Music on Queensferry Street. Tricity will also bring plenty of spares along with her on the day.
So far at this years Fringe, Tricity Vogue has taught Lorraine Chase, Joe Simmons, Scott Capurro and David Mills to play kazoo, and kazoo-duetted with Amanda Palmer. She leads mass kazoo choruses at the end of every night of her free show Ukulele Cabaret. Now she wants to spread the kazoo love even more widely.
So what is the secret to playing kazoo? Its a lot easier than you think. Come along on Saturday, and Tricity promises to teach you herself.
