Annie Lennox memorabilia to go on show

Memorabilia chronicling the life, times and style of Annie Lennox is to go on show at London’s prestigious Victoria & Albert Museum.
Opening on September 15th until February 26th 2012, the free exhibition will chart the life of the UK singer and campaigner over the past four decades.
The display will feature costumes and accessories worn by Lennox from her concerts, tours and music videos, as well as photographs, personal treasures and, of course, the many awards she has won during her career.
A specially-commissioned video of Lennox in conversation will also be included in the exhibition, as well as other recorded interviews and music videos.
While earning international acclaim with the duo Eurythmics in the 1980s and as a solo artist, the Walking on Broken Glass artist has become just as famous for her charity work.
She has raised awareness of HIV and AIDS and has been a long-time supporter of Amnesty International, Greenpeace and other political issues.
Charity Sing, which aims to raise awareness of Aids in Africa, was set up by Lennox in 2007.
Therefore, the exhibition gives over to this side of Lennox, showing a collection from the campaigns she has championed.
The event comes after the Aberdeen-born artist collected an OBE from the Queen last month for her charity work fighting Aids and poverty in Africa.
Earlier this year she was presented with the Silver Clef prize for outstanding contribution to music at the music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins awards.
Over her career, Lennox has sold more than 80 million albums worldwide and has won the Brit award for best female singer six times.
Speaking to BBC Six Music about the exhibition, she said: “This is going to be about taking stock and looking back and saying … how many decades have I been doing this?”
Lennox explained that over the years she collected awards and costumes but never stopped to look at them. However, the exhibition has allowed her to see them “all coming back to life”.
