Adele confirms plans to return in 2012

After enjoying a remarkable run of success over the last 12 months or so, Adele has announced that she intends to launch new music before the end of this year.
The London-born songstress’ sophomore album, 21, has broken an extensive list of records in recent months and she recently capped that success by scooping awards at the prestigious Grammys and Brits.
But rather than rest on her laurels, the Someone Like You star has confirmed that she is already working on new material and hopes to have a new single out before the turn of the year.
In an interview with French radio station NRJ, Adele explained: “There will be a new song, probably coming out at the end of the year. But then it depends how quickly I write some other new songs.”
Despite this, Adele – who turns 24 next month – said that her next album will not be hitting the charts for at least another two years. She explained that the delay is caused by the fact that, unlike many of contemporaries, Adele writes the majority of her own material.
Asked whether she felt any additional pressure in light of her recent successes, she added: “I don’t really feel the pressure for the next record to be big as my last one, as I know it’s not really possible.”
“What’s happened with [21] is very rare, anyway. I have to convince with my songs again and that’s where the pressure comes from. That’s me putting pressure on myself.”
21 has already sold more than 18 million copies worldwide and won Album of the Year at the Brits and Grammys.
It is, in fact, the best-selling album of the 21st century, while its 21-week tenure at the summit of the UK Albums Chart saw it claim the record for a female solo artist.
